After a great Sunday Service I can usually count on one or two things afterwards. More likely than not my wife is going to want to go out to breakfast at I-Hop with the kids and if I escape this I have the opportunity to enjoy as many of the Sunday NFL football games as I choose. Sad to say yes I am like a lot of men my age. I love some football especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although this is my team and I am a ride or die fan I have respect for excellence no matter who is playing when it is on display.
So here brings me to the point of this blog today. Lately I have to admit the Dallas Cowboys have blown my mind. The Cowboys seem to be cruising right along with their win over the Ravens today. They have two great rookies at the quarterback position and running back position. Seems like virtually they are unstoppable. I have to admit I have been so impressed with the quarterback play of Zak Prescott that it made me think long and hard when it comes to really taking advantage of my moment when it arrives. Also on the other hand it also made me think when we I don't embrace opportunity when it's within my grasp or think those opportunities will always be there. For the sake of this blog I'd like to call the later the Tony Romo mentality and the former the Zak mentality. For example, look how Zak has stepped in as the Cowboys starting quarterback. Not only is he doing well but he has broken Dallas rookie quarterback records and continues to lead them to win after win. I'm sure nobody expected him to do as well as he is doing being a starting rookie quarterback but man has he proved everyone wrong so much so that Dallas has decided to continue playing Zak even though Tony Romo is able to get back on the field. My point is simple and it is this. Are you a Zak or are you a Romo? Are you the kind of individual when you get a chance you knock it out the box and give it your all or are you a Romo who receives opportunity after opportunity only to realize that one day the chances are gone and nobody wants to hear your excuses. We all have a moment in our lives to do great things but its up to each one of us what we do with it. I implore you today to be a Zak even if you don't have all the experience or the long resume that says this job, business, home or career is for you. I have a new term when I feel like the new task is to much for me. I just tell myself I'm Zakking It!!!!!

The Need to Speak Positive Affirmations Over Your Child
America has just come through one of the most divisive elections I have ever seen in my entire life. We as adults have to admit no matter what are party affiliations are we witnessed some of the worst rhetoric from both sides of our major country political parties. I know it's easy as adults for us sometimes to shake words off and eventually to push past the negativity no matter how upset we may be for the moment. Eventually life must and will go on for us. Although life will go on for us I ask you to consider is this the case for our children.
Our children will be the ones that go back to school and have to deal with children of different races whose parents may not be as civil as you. Some kids may take negative attitudes and speech of their parents demeaning others and yes even saying hateful words about other races around our children. I tell you it's a time to pray for our children. It's easy to tell our kid's if someone say's anything crazy to you about this election to knock them out but the truth is that only feeds more into the racial divide. We have to pray for our kids and begin to speak positive thing's over their lives before they walk out the door. Over the next few days I am writing word's that my daughter and nephew must read before they walk out of the door on their way to school. I want them to know they are fearfully and wonderfully made. I want them to know with God all things are possible. I want them to know they are not a minority but with God on their side they are the Majority!!! I want them to have enough positive affirmations over their lives that when they hear the negativity of others around them they will know deep down in their hearts that they are God's children and no matter what is said nothing can change that. I don't presume to know what the next four years will be like with a Trump presidency. I can only like you go by what I have seen, and heard so far. With that being said I encourage you to speak words of comfort to your children, and strong words of affirmation letting them know how special they are and that nothing can stop them from achieving.
